As I started approaching the time when I would be required to sign up for Medicare, I was getting inundated with phone calls, brochures and mailings from all known corners of the US. I was lost trying to understand the difference between the Medicare parts, Medicare Advantage, Medicare supplemental and the prescription requirements. Then I saw an announcement for a seminar being conducted by David Schaeffer and went to his web site to see what it was about. I learned about the book Medicare Made 123 Easy and immediately purchased it from Amazon.Easy to read, easy to understand and within an hour I had an excellent understanding of the various parts of Medicare, but more importantly it provided a step by step methodology of how to determine which plans were best for an individual. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is about to step into the world of Medicare and even if one is already there, it explains different options if an individual wants to change plans.By the way, I also attended the seminar and highly recommend that to all. Very informative and Mr. Schaeffer is a very engaging and easy to understand speaker. speaker.
Medicare Made 123 Easy provides some basic information but little more or little better than you can find in any Medicare brochure or online with five minutes of research. The book appears to be self-published and it shows as it’s awkwardly written in places (and awkwardly formatted, although it’s nice that it uses a nice font size). In places it uses a cartoon graphic they call “Easy Eddie†that adds absolutely nothing. Does it provide SOME useful information? Yes. Is it worth buying? Maybe not since someone will still need to do a lot of additional research. I suggest using the Amazon “Look Inside†feature to see if it might be useful to you.
Excellent book - really explains Medicare well. However, you should definitely meet with an insurance agent that specializes in Medicare so you make the right choice the first time! Look for seminars in libraries - these people represent all the Medicare plans rather than just one plan!
This book answered questions I had and clarified many confusing issues with Medicare. I am disabled and not yet 65 years old which creates an entirely different scenario. We contacted one of the authors, David P. Schaeffer, in the quest to unravel the complexities of Medicare. He knows Medicare inside and out. Our local Social Security/Medicare office was no help. I would recommend reading this book as soon as you turn 60 to 61 years old.
Medicare Made 123 Easy is the place where everyone turning 65 should begin their journey to figure out their Medicare options. The book allowed me to feel confident in my understanding of Medicare after multiple visits to the Medicare website left me scratching my head with more questions than answers. David & Ian Schaeffer explain Medicare in straightforward and concise language while they helped me sort through the otherwise confusing options for private market supplemental or alternative health insurance coverage. Well done!
Sorry I can't agree with some other readers. Not that the book gives incorrect info or anything. It's just that these "authors" have used every trick in the book (pun intended) to have 5 pages of info look like it's more than an okay article worth 99 cents. These guys repeat themselves all over the place. Then they have the gall of opening each "chapter" with a quote. But who is being quoted? You guessed it. Them. Which might not be so bad if they weren't quoting a line or two, word for word, from the upcoming paragraph - so, who needs it twice? And, large print? Some may be happy with that as an alternative to buying a pair of glasses, but here its main purpose is to, you guessed it again, make precious little info look like it's more than it is.Again, some might appreciate that it's "accessible," but thisis only because you only get repeated stuff 4r times out of 5.
This book provides a straightforward, unbiased description of the whole Medicare process and all of the options, pros and cons, in language anyone can understand. This is actually my second copy! If you are approaching Medicare age and have a million questions like I did, do yourself a huge favor and buy this book. Excellent.
Very clear, well written. I took a class on MediCare options and they recommended this book. The class was good but this book really made everything simple and clear. It's a very quick read, worth your time because MediCare can be a problem if you make a wrong choice on your programs.
