It's an okay guide to what's going on in Milwaukee. I really wanted to love this book, but being someone who has lived in Milwaukee for 7 years, there wasn't really anything I read that was a surprise. I was hoping to find more events going on but it was a lot of museum/zoo/membership information. Some of the information is not correct (free days at certain places need to be updated). Information on things like parades,holiday train, pumpkin pavilion, and candlelight park hikes, (I could go on) would be great to have in one location. Maybe in future years?
I am so thrilled that this book exists!!! I just received it and already know that it is going to come in great handy when looking for activities to do with my 2 young children. They go a little bonkers when we keep them at the house for too long, and this book is the perfect way for me to find new and exciting adventures to take them on!There are sections on every type of activity you can imagine. I have lived in Milwaukee nearly my whole life and it amazes me to see so many places and and activities to do that I never even knew about. Museums, apple orchards, sports, arts, libraries, playgrounds, nature centers, indoor recreation...on and on. It's all in there, so nice!I love that there is even a section about ways to get your kids involved with volunteering and giving back to the community. Also there are coupons in the back of the book - museum passes, restaurant coupons!Thank you to whoever made this book, you made my day!!!
I just received my book from Amazon today and it's exactly what I was looking for! The perfect guide to planning fun days with my grandchildren. I'll be like a tourist in my own town - never knew my city had so much to see and enjoy with young children. Also like the family-friendly restaurant section. Great suggestions for dinner after a busy day on the town. Plan to buy this for my young mom co-workers for our holiday gift exchange. Great buy!
This book is a wonderful addition to anyone's library. It is a great reference guide all about what Milwaukee has to offer children and families. Calie, you really filled a void, both with your blog and your book. Strong work!
After buying for myself, I decided to also buy it for two friends. Nice little stocking stuffer.
When I first received the book, I couldn't believe that it was all about my city! Milwaukee!! When I was raising my kids, we would get in a rut of doing the same things over and over. But, now that I have grandkids, it's so great to know of all the options that are available locally at low or no cost. Plus, the book itself is a great value in that all you have to do is use one of the coupons in the back of the book, and you can recoup all of your purchase price. Now when I know I am going to have some precious time with my kids' kids, I will be able to make plans for a meaningful and memorable experience for all of us. Plus, the guide is not limited to just Milwaukee. Like most families, we want to get to know our entire state better. And, there's a lot to do nearby that we have never experienced. I am so excited to get started on some day trips and Stay-cations! Thank you, Calie Herbst, for taking the time and effort to put this great reference book together. It's so handy to have the information all in one resource. And, it doesn't require electricity to use. You can keep it in your purse or car so that it is handy at a moment's notice.

Flip through to discover local destinations that are affordable, have character, and cater to families with kids. (There’s lots more here than museums and the zoo! Especially useful in winter is the directory of indoor play areas.) Out-of-town day trips are suggested too.Well done! I hope this becomes an annual publication.
